A Letter From The Editor: A Year in Review & Looking Ahead to 2025

As we approach the end of the year, I’m doing a lot of reflection on the future of It Girl Archive and how I feel about my progress this year. I’m thinking about future directions for the brand, and I want to answer some frequently asked questions, so this is going to be my space for doing that!

The Yearly Reflection

The one year anniversary of having It Girl Archive came and went back in October, and I didn’t say much about it because to be honest, I was a bit tired, a bit burntout, and a bit unsatisfied with how things have been going. It’s hard to be honest about the struggles of running a platform, comparisons I make to my “competitors” in the fashion media space, and thinking about what I want this place ultimately to be. A year ago, I wanted a place to document my life, my experiences, my perspectives, and my anxieties. If you follow me on Substack (or you know me in real life), I’ve spoken about the many anxieties and stressors of trying to build something from scratch. I’ve struggled so much with consistency and showing up while juggling school, work, and planning for my life after finishing my bachelor’s degree. Ultimately, It Girl Archive is here to stay, and I’m proud of myself for staying the course. I am looking forward to taking even more time off now that fall semester is ending, and I will be using this time to start my next exciting project in collaboration with some good friends of mine, and I hope to be able to say more soon. While I hope to step into more of a creative role this year, I have a few fun announcements to make!

Expanding our Team

This is something I have wanted to do for a while, and I am pleased to announce that I am looking for a Social Media & Content Creation intern! If you have a passion for fashion theory, the business of fashion, data analysis, and have always wanted to work for a media publication, this is your chance! I will officially posting the job on our LinkedIn, and I encourage you to apply regardless of experience in the fashion industry. This opportunity is paid in the form of a small stipend for a 3-month internship. This position is best suited for ambitious high schoolers or college students in their first or second year of college. To apply, please send your resume and a portfolio to contact@itgirlarchive.com with the subject line “Job Inquiry: It Girl Archive x [Your Name].” Interviews will begin in the new year, and I hope to choose a candidate by March 2025. I look forward to reviewing your individual applications in hopes that one of you will earn a spot on my team!

Additionally, submissions for writers will open January 7th, 2025. Again, if you have a passion for fashion writing, art analysis, pop culture, or business, we welcome you to submit articles to us at submissions@itgirlarchive.com with the subject line “January Submissions: It Girl Archive x [Your Name].” We prefer if you can submit your work in the form of a PDF or in a Google or Word Doc format. We will be reviewing submissions on a rolling basis beginning January 7th, 2025.

I’m really excited to be expanding our team and hopefully start mentoring some of you! I want to build connections within our community, and I can’t think of a better way of doing so.

Allow me to Express my Gratitude

Lastly, I really want to express my gratitude for all of you that have been loyal readers of It Girl Archive. Without you, I wouldn’t have this beautiful community to call my own. I’m really grateful for all your support over the last year, and I’m excited to bring you much more next year. Stay tuned for more!
